Amsterdam, 17 November 2020: The 11th and final episode of Vincent TV België’s smash hit Château Planckaert on VRT één achieved its highest ratings ever for the series on Sunday 15 November, achieving a staggering 53,5% market share.
Over 1.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the latest instalment of the reality series following former professional cyclist Eddy Planckaert and his family on their adventures as they renovate an old French castle property in order to make it their new home.
Thanks to its outstanding performance throughout its first season, the show has already been commissioned for a second series for production and broadcast in 2021.
Herta Luyten, Commissioning Editor for VRT, stated: “Château Planckaert is so much more than a reality series about the renovation of a castle. It is a celebration of life, a warm blanket in these cold and dark days. The storytelling balances cleverly to the rhythm of the Planckaerts. The program thus provides a glimpse into the life of one of the most beautiful families in Flanders, and touches the viewer straight to the heart. And that viewer has sympathized en masse: the ratings are spectacular and increased week after week. As a result, Château Planckaert ranks in the top 3 of the most viewed programs in recent years. That is an impressive result, far above our expectations, and we are of course more than delighted with that!”
Katrien Luyten, Managing Director of Vincent TV België, added: “We’re delighted that audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a new season of Château Planckaert on VRT as evidenced by their continued enthusiasm for this first series.”
Since its premiere on 6 September, Château Planckaert has chronicled the ups and downs of the Planckaert family as pursue their dream of starting a charming bed and breakfast in France. To make this dream come true, the close-knit family bought a French castle. There is one problem, however: there is still a lot of work to be done… Château Planckaert follows the Planckaert family through their most complicated challenge of turning a burnt-out castle in France into a beautiful place to stay. This heartwarming series tells a story of dreams and hopes, of trial and error, guts and respect and the inseparable bond within a family.
